Mashup Time! Listen to Future Library Podcast Highlights from 2013, the one referred to as The Clipshow. Contains snippets of things yet to come.
December saw this blog slowly getting back on track after several months of reduced wordage. Yes, this is another Future Library related post and with good reason. Without the FL related content things would have been even duller around this binary landscape. It has kept me sane – no mean feat – and I’ve enjoyed immensely listening to all the podcast guests. For newcomers we’ve put together a clipshow of snippets to give you an idea of what’s been going on.

Links to other sites and podcasts of interest have been thin on the html and that’s an area I’ll address in the new year. Vic Galloway and Jim Gellatly have fantastic podcasts available online with live sessions from up and coming Scottish underground artists and bands. Glasgow Podcart is equally well known and you don’t have to search too far to find a wealth of new music that you won’t see pushed in the mainstream. As Jetplane Landing sang on their comeback record earlier this year, “winners win, they’re the highest bidders“.
Those with the biggest marketing budgets make the most noise. It doesn’t mean their art is worth listening to. Retro lovers may resist smartphones and I can understand why to a point. However, the creative possibilities handheld technology gives us now means that we are all publishers and gatekeepers. Crowdfunding of records is a natural extension of that (don’t forget to check out The Birthday Suit).
There’s so much to read, listen and consume online that half the trouble is deciding where we should spend our time. If you’ve decided to stick around and come on this journey with us, we appreciate the company.
Happy New Year.
