Scottish pop-punk band THE MURDERBURGERS are well known in the underground punk scene. Later this year they’ll release new album “these are only problems” with the potential to reach a whole new set of fans globally.
Old news to those in the know but let’s say it anyway. Scottish pop-punk band THE MURDERBURGERS will release their next album on the U.S. label Asian Man Records. That’s the label that released the early stuff by international punk stars Alkaline Trio.
It’s fantastic news for the band and a positive development for the underground punk scene in Scotland. With so much substandard, non-progressive post-hardcore doing the rounds, it’s a relief to see fun and fast guitars making a comeback.
November 2011 at Ivory Blacks Glasgow was the scene of the crime when I first saw the band supporting Dwarves. I went in thinking what a terrible name for a band they had. I came out thinking they’d upstaged the headliners. Ever since then I’ve kept an eye on them because I had a feeling they were a cut above the usual pop-punk shambolic mess you normally hear.
With all the constant touring they’ve done since then, I reckon they kick serious amounts of arse now. So don’t be put off by the name! If you get a chance to see them live definitely go along and check them out. Y’know, before they become massive.
